The First Week of March Sees Bing, Firefox, Google, & LinkedIn Implement New Updates & Features

This week saw some of the biggest names in the online world announce new features and updates, which all revolved around improving user experience and privacy. Read on to see how these updates can improve your online marketing and SEO.

  • Microsoft Bing Gets More Visual

Microsoft’s Bing search is going to get a lot more visually appealing for users. The company announced that the update will affect various search features and offer digestible info and more visuals. For example, if a user searches for “cats” they will be greeted with an infographic to the right that breaks down some useful info about cats like their lifespan, average weight, and more. If a user looks up a recipe, a variety of recipes with pictures is the first thing you will see.

The one thing to keep in mind about this update is it may impact how your site is shown in search engine results. Remember to utilize structured data when possible as this will help increase the probability of being shown.

  • Cookie Protection for Firefox

For those who rely on Firefox, Mozilla has made another step to try to protect data tracking and overall privacy with a new update to cookies through their search tab. What this new enhancement means is that third-party tracking will no longer be able to track your activities.

All you have to do is to initiate this new protection is turn on Firefox’s strict mode in the tab beside the URL box. If you’re curious about this new protection, click here to get all the details.
